In einer Welt, in der täuschend echte KI-generierte Videos viral gehen, Desinformation gezielt platziert und wissenschaftliche Expertise öffentlich infrage gestellt wird, wird Vertrauen in Personen und Institutionen zu einem raren Gut. Doch wie entsteht Vertrauen in Wissenschaft? Und wie können wir es gemeinsam stärken?

Diesen Fragen widmet sich unsere neue Mitmach-Ausstellung "…sag du es mir – Vertrauen in die Wissenschaft" im Karl9 – Wissenschaftslokal für Technik und Gesellschaft.
Die Ausstellung lädt dazu ein, den Bedingungen von Vertrauen auf den Grund zu gehen. An interaktiven Stationen können Sie erleben, wie sich Vertrauen bildet – und was es braucht, um es zu stärken.
 
Wir laden Sie herzlich zur Vernissage der Ausstellung ein WANN? Freitag, 9. Mai 2025, ab 17:00 Uhr (Einlass ab 16:30 Uhr) WO? Karl9 – Wissenschaftslokal für Technik und Gesellschaft, Karlstraße 9, 76133 Karlsruhe Zur Eröffnung spricht Dana Mahr (ITAS/KIT) über Vertrauen in die Wissenschaft vor dem Hintergrund aktueller technologischer und politischer Entwicklungen.

Die Ausstellung ist bis Ende Juli jeweils mittwochs von 11 bis 15 Uhr sowie nach Absprache geöffnet.
Sie ist ein Beitrag des Instituts für Technikfolgenabschätzung und Systemanalyse (ITAS) am Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) im Rahmen des EU-Forschungsprojekts IANUS – Inspiring and Anchoring Trust in Science.

What is safety?
 
Safety is a key topic in many areas of science and technology, especially when it comes to managing and minimizing risks. But how do we determine when a technology or a final repository is safe enough? Is the safest repository the one that protects us, or is a suitable one sufficient? What does the "best possible site" mean in terms of safety and environmental compatibility?
Additionally, there is the question of how universally valid emission limits are set. Who has the authority to help decide what is considered safe or acceptable, and how are these decisions made?
Sophie Kuppler would like to discuss these questions with you.

Der Tag der offenen Tür ist ein Wissenschaftsfest für die Öffentlichkeit und bildet den Auftakt für das Karlsruher Wissenschaftsfestival "EFFEKTE". Unter dem Slogan „Effektvoll am KIT“ stellt das KIT alle zwei Jahre Experimente und Labore vor und bietet Aktivitäten für Groß und Klein, Vorträge und Mitmachangebote sowie ein unterhaltsames Bühnenprogramm.
Beim Campustag stellen die KIT-Fakultäten ihre Studiengänge vor und bieten tolle Mitmachaktionen, Experimente, Führungen u.v.m. an. Natürlich kommen auch Themen wie Auslandsstudium, Karrierechancen, Bewerbung und Zulassung oder die Unterstützung beim Studieneinstieg nicht zu kurz. Auf Campustouren mit Studienberaterinnen und Studierenden lernt man die wichtigsten Einrichtungen des KIT kennen und kann Fragen zum Studium stellen. Die Hochschulgruppen präsentieren sich auf dem Forum und zeigen die Vielfalt des Campuslebens.

Higher, faster, further, more. Unlimited growth. We live in a world of growth logic and constant acceleration: Production, the pace of work, the flood of information, opportunities, demands and events in everyday life are increasing. More and more can and should be achieved. However, the consequences and pitfalls of a constantly accelerating modern age are also becoming ever clearer - in the environment, in society and in ourselves.
In this workshop, we will explore together the question of what it could mean to “get off the hamster wheel”. In an open process, we will look at what is important, what can develop and what should remain. We will give you various exercises and methods to try out and reflect on. It is less about a result and more about discovery. Between the first and second half-day, you will observe your everyday life and see which spaces are available for slowing down. You then try out what opportunities you can create or already have to slow down.
The workshop is part of the Karlsruhe Transformation Center's Deceleration Year (more information here), in which an entire research group is investigating what it means to slow down in times of major transformations (WBGU 2011) and upheavals.

Our world is full of movement: Technological innovations such as AI and renewable energies are opening up new possibilities, while we are seeing people around the world standing up for climate protection, social justice and diversity. As tiring as this can be, this time of change also offers us the chance to rediscover our own place in the world and actively shape it.
In our three-day excursion, we will take time for this and ask: How can we ourselves be part of positive change? How do we relate to the world, to ourselves and to others? And what are the interactions between our relationships and sustainability?
In the tranquillity of nature, we invite you to explore your inner strengths and see how personal growth influences external change. Connectedness and self-awareness are important skills for shaping a sustainable future. That's why we alternate exercises from mindfulness and yoga practice with experiential elements. The theoretical inputs are based on the concept of “personal sustainability”, which focuses on the relationship between ourselves and the world.
Aims of the excursion seminar:
- Activate and strengthen your inner resources
- Understand how inner and outer transformation are connected
- Experience connection with the group
- Develop ideas for a sustainable way of life and apply them in everyday life
- Strengthen future, innovation and vision skills
The excursion starts on June 10 “in the present” and ends on June 12 with a look into the world of tomorrow - both in the Zukunftsraum (Rintheimer Straße 46 in Karlsruhe). In between, there will be two overnight stays at Thomashof (Karlsruhe Stupferich). We will walk between the Zukunftsraum and Thomashof. Please let us know in advance if this is not possible.

Workload for ECTS:
2 ECTS: Committed participation in the excursion seminar, follow-up of the exercises and transfer tasks, written transfer reflection
3 ECTS: by arrangement with the seminar leader

Die Tage des offenen Reallabors finden vom 30. Juni bis zum 6. Juli 2025 statt und möchten Interessierten Einblicke in die Reallaborarbeit vor Ort ermöglichen sowie die Sichtbarkeit der Reallabore und den Austausch zwischen den Reallaboren fördern. Mitmachen kann jedes Reallabor – im Sinne des Reallaborverständnisses des Netzwerks – im deutschsprachigen Raum und darüber hinaus, das Beiträge für eine Nachhaltige Entwicklung erarbeitet und Besuchende in der Aktionswoche für ein oder mehrere Tage willkommen heißt. Das Netzwerk "Reallabore der Nachhaltigkeit" wird mit einem Rahmenprogramm, Flyern und Sichtbarkeit auf der Website unterstützen.

Neue Technologien können unser Leben bereichern und angenehmer machen – sie bergen aber auch Risiken und Herausforderungen. Seit 30 Jahren forscht das Institut für Technikfolgenabschätzung und Systemanalyse daran, wie sich die Potenziale von Technik nutzen und unerwünschte Folgen vermeiden lassen.

Zum Jubiläum hat das ITAS Maja Göpel eingeladen, eine der wichtigsten Stimmen im Feld nachhaltiger Entwicklung und Transformation. Die Wissenschaftlerin und Autorin spricht darüber, wie unsere Gesellschaft trotz Krisen und technologischer Umbrüche positiv nach vorne blicken kann.

The anthropogenic impact and the ecological footprint of humans is grandchild-friendly and “Earth Overshot Day” is celebrated peacefully worldwide on December 31.
Learning future skills, vision and transformation competence has created the future and empowered a new generation of people to work towards shaping a sustainable co-, environment and afterworld.
